Safety is and always will be the top priority in our operations.

Safety

Chorus’ subsidiaries are subject to extensive safety and security regulations. For more detailed information, please refer to its Annual Information Form, which provides comprehensive disclosure regarding our safety and security practices and regulatory compliance. Safety is woven into all areas of our business, sustained by the commitment of our entire team.

Our safety culture extends across all facets of our business and is underpinned by the commitment of each of our employees. In 2024, Jazz was named among Canada’s Safest Employers for the eighth consecutive year. We’re proud of the history Jazz has with Canada’s Safest Employers awards and the recognition for safety as the cornerstone for all we do.

Safety Management System

Jazz, Cygnet and Voyageur maintain Safety Management Systems (“SMS”) aligned with Canadian Aviation Regulations. These systems help us proactively identify, assess, and reduce safety risks.

Employee feedback and vigilance is vital. Continuous, open reporting ensures our SMS stays effective and responsive to evolving safety needs.

Accountability and Oversight

Accountability is built into the SMS, with clear responsibilities from senior leaders to the subsidiary presidents. Each quarter, the Governance, Nominating and Compensation Committee reviews safety performance reports from both Jazz and Voyageur

Continuous Improvement

Regular safety and quality audits – including those for third-party service providers – help us evaluate the effectiveness of our programs. Certified quality auditors report findings to senior management, who take action to address hazards and drive improvements. When risks are identified we respond quickly to communicate and implement changes.

Our Safety Management Systems includes:

  • Targeted training:  Appropriate training and education for all employees to ensure every employee is prepared and informed.
  • Proactive hazard reporting: Internal reporting, hazard identification, risk assessment and evaluation for taking corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Swift response: Immediate actions to eliminate unsafe workplace conditions and strengthen safety practices.
  • Clear employee accountability: Employee responsibilities to perform their duties in accordance with established health, safety and security policies, procedures, laws and regulations – with a focus on protecting themselves, their coworkers, and the safety of our customers.

Emergency Preparedness

Immediate action can save lives in a crisis. That is why our teams are trained to respond quickly and effectively.

In collaboration with Air Canada, and at the heart of Jazz’ emergency response, is the Special Assistance Team (“SAT”) – a dedicated group with a critical role in our corporate emergency response plan. SAT team members are highly trained in crisis management skills and are prepared to deploy to incident sites to support affected individuals and their families and to provide them with the dignified support and immediate assistance they deserve.

We provided ongoing emergency response training sessions for all new team members and continually improve our emergency response procedures at all locations. Jazz employees are also trained to follow an Emergency Response Handbook which contains best practices and procedures for a wide range of emergencies.

Safety Reporting

Our strong safety record reflects the dedication of our people. To maintain this standard, we encourage employees to report any safety concerns, hazards, or incidents.

We provide a mobile reporting application and a confidential safety reporting hotline that support open communication. These tools allow employees to raise issues – including anonymously – and ensure they are protected from retaliation when doing so.
